چکیده

Deformable surface 3D tracking is a severely under-constrained problem and great efforts have been made to solve it. A recent state-of-the-art approach solves this problem by formulating it as a second order cone programming (SOCP) problem. However, one drawback of this approach is that it is timeconsuming. In this paper, we propose an effective method for 3D deformable surface tracking. First, we formulate the deformable surface tracking problem as a linear programming (LP) problem. Then, we solve the LP problem with an algorithm which converges superlinearly rather than bisection algorithm whose convergence speed is linear. Our experimental studies on synthetic and real data have demonstrated the proposed method can not only reliably recover 3D structures of surfaces but also run faster than the state-of-the-art method. & 2011 Elsevier Ltd. An efficient unified approach to direct image registration of rigid and deformable surfaces

Image-based deformations are generally used to align images of deformable objecys moving in the 3D space. For the registration of deformable objects, this assumption has shown to give good results. However it is not satisfying for the registration of images of 3D rigid objects as the underlying structure cannot be directly estimated. The general belief is that obtaining the 3D structure directl...

FEATURE−BASED TRACKING USING 3D PHYSICS−BASED DEFORMABLE SURFACES (TueAmOR1)

This paper presents a novel approach for tracking feature points in video sequences. In this method, the image intensity is represented by a 3D deformable surface model. Tracking is performed by exploiting a by−product of explicit surface deformation governing equations. The proposed method was compared with the well known KLT tracking algorithm, in terms of tracking accuracy and robustness. Th...

Tracking Medical 3D Data with a Deformable Parametric Model

We present a new approach to surface tracking applied to 3D medical data with a deformable model. It is based on a parametric model composed of a superquadric t followed by a Free-Form Deformation (FFD), that gives a compact representation of a set of points in a 3D image. We present three diierent approaches to track surfaces in a sequence of 3D cardiac images. From the tracking, we infer quan...

Recovery and Tracking of Continuous 3D Surfaces from Stereo Data using a Deformable Dual-Mesh

We propose a novel method for continuous 3D depth recovery and tracking using calibrated stereo. The method integrates stereo correspondence, surface reconstruction and tracking by using a new single deformable dual mesh optimization, resulting in simplicity, robustness and efficiency. In order to combine stereo correspondence and structure recovery, the method introduces an external energy fun...

Real-Time Tracking of the Left Ventricle in 3D Echocardiography Using a State Estimation Approach

In this paper we present a framework for real-time tracking of deformable contours in volumetric datasets. The framework supports composite deformation models, controlled by parameters for contour shape in addition to global pose. Tracking is performed in a sequential state estimation fashion, using an extended Kalman filter, with measurement processing in information space to effectively predi...
